Learning Outcome 6

Control sentence-level error (grammar, punctuation, spelling).

After revision, I was able to correct most of the sentences in the paper I wrote, however after further inspection there were a few that did slip through the cracks. My main issue was simply just knowing where to end a sentence and start a new one. Along with adding commas in the correct places and semicolons. Next time I will make sure I thoroughly reread my paper, paying special attention to sentence structure and punctuation as that seemed my biggest downfall.

In my second paper, I feel as if I had less sentence revisions in my paper but I may be wrong. I think the one thing I need to work on is being less wordy and making my sentences more clearer for the reader to be able to better understand.

Grammar and sentence structure seem to be my downfall no matter what paper I write. I feel as if I’ve gotten better since the beginning of the term in terms of structuring sentences better and catching when I don’t before passing in a draft. However I’m not perfect and there are still mistakes made even in the final paper I wrote that were evident in the first paper I wrote of the semester. It’s a challenge that I need to continue working on in terms of formatting sentences correctly and making sure I’m not putting commas in where commas are not required. I think my biggest fault is my proofreading, I don’t proofread well enough and because of this I don’t catch easy mistakes that could of been caught the first time around. I’m going to continue working on these skills in my career at UNE when I write other papers so I can ensure that I don’t make silly mistakes such as the one’s I’ve made throughout this class.
