Learning Outcome 5

Document their work using appropriate conventions (MLA).

Regarding what I did right and wrong for my first paper the main mistake I had regarding MLA formatting was specifically the work cited. After observing the OWL website I was made aware of what exactly I did wrong, in which I simply formatted the citations wrong. For the next paper I write I’ll be sure to check back in with the OWL site in order to correctly format my final work cited page. I did however format the heading correctly.

In my second paper my MLA formatting was formatted correctly other than perhaps a few instances of putting a period in the wrong space after citing in the text. I resolved the work cited mistake that I had previously made in my first paper in this paper.

I think after writing all three papers, it allowed me to view the easy mistakes I made regarding MLA formatting as I wrote each one. However I did notice after each paper the mistakes went down after receiving feedback and learning from my mistakes. What I did suffer from was simple mistakes such as the formatting of the work cited page, along with the indentation of the citations for the work I used. There were also the occasional missing period after the cited author, all simple mistakes that I’m sure I’ll occasionally make in first drafts as time goes on. What can help prevent this and supplement my writing is simply rereading it slowly and searching for easy mistakes like those.
